About Gary Farrell Vineyards
Gary Farrell is one of the original specialists of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir — the estate was founded in 1982 and has been instrumental in establishing the region's reputation for elegant, food-friendly Pinot. The current winemaking team, led by Theresa Heredia, has elevated the wines to a new level of precision while preserving the house style of balance, restraint, and aging potential.
The hilltop tasting room offers one of the most spectacular views in Sonoma — a wraparound panorama over the Russian River and the densely wooded valley floor. The portfolio includes a Russian River Selection Pinot Noir and Chardonnay (regional blends), plus a series of single-vineyard Pinot Noirs that allow side-by-side comparison of the AVA's diverse terroirs.
What to Expect
The standard tasting is a seated, hour-long experience walking through 4-5 wines with views over the valley. The premium Vista Tasting adds single-vineyard wines and a structured comparison flight. Hospitality is knowledgeable and unhurried.

Visitor Tips
Reservations required. The single-vineyard Pinot Noir flight is the must-do here — comparing two or three vineyard expressions side by side is the best way to understand Russian River Valley. Late afternoon offers the most dramatic light over the valley.
