About Domaine Drouhin Oregon
Domaine Drouhin Oregon was the moment Willamette Valley arrived on the global stage. In 1987, Robert Drouhin of the legendary Burgundy négociant Maison Joseph Drouhin purchased land in the Dundee Hills and his daughter Véronique moved to Oregon to make wine. The implicit verdict — that Willamette could produce Pinot worthy of a Burgundian's attention — transformed the region's identity overnight.
Four decades later, Domaine Drouhin Oregon (DDO) is one of the most respected estates in the New World. The flagship Cuvée Laurène and Cuvée Louise Pinot Noirs are made entirely in the Burgundian tradition — whole-cluster fermentation, neutral French oak, and gentle extraction — and they reward 10-20 years of cellaring. The estate also produces Cuvée Edition Limitée Arthur Chardonnay, made from the original Dijon clone cuttings the Drouhins imported.
What to Expect
The standard tasting is a seated, hour-long experience on the hilltop terrace overlooking the Dundee Hills. The premium reserve tasting adds Cuvée Louise and library wines. The setting is one of the most beautiful in Oregon wine country, and the staff understand both Burgundy and Oregon at a serious level.
