About Pedernales Cellars
Pedernales Cellars is one of the most Spanish-leaning estates in Texas Hill Country — a family-owned winery (the Kuhlken family) that has staked its identity on Iberian and southern Rhône varietals. The estate has been a Tempranillo specialist since its founding in 2006 and was among the first to plant Albariño in Texas, with the resulting wine becoming a defining bottle for the region's white wine renaissance.
The portfolio is unusually focused for Texas — Tempranillo, GSM blends (Grenache-Syrah-Mourvèdre), Viognier, and Albariño are the core, with occasional bottlings of Touriga Nacional and other Iberian varietals. The wines are made in a clean, expressive, terroir-forward style that has earned Pedernales consistent recognition in Texas wine competitions. The on-site facility is also an impressive limestone-and-cypress structure with views over the Pedernales River valley.
What to Expect
The tasting room is on a hilltop with sweeping views of the Pedernales valley. The standard tasting walks through 5 wines. The premium reserve tasting adds library Tempranillos and the limited-release Iberian bottlings. The grounds and cave tasting room (on certain tour formats) are worth requesting.

Reservations recommended. The Albariño is one of the most distinctive bottles in Texas and rarely available outside the winery. The Reserve Tempranillo is the flagship — buy if available. The cave tasting (advance booking) is the most atmospheric option on the property.
