About Becker Vineyards
Becker Vineyards is the founding estate of Texas Hill Country fine wine — Dr. Richard Becker planted the first vines in 1992 and has spent the past three decades building the region from a curiosity into a serious wine destination. The 46-acre estate near Stonewall (between Fredericksburg and Johnson City) sits on the deep limestone soils that have come to define Texas Hill Country viticulture, and the lavender fields that surround the tasting room have become an iconic image of the region.
Becker produces one of the broadest portfolios in Texas Hill Country — over 30 wines from estate-grown and Texas High Plains fruit. The reserve Cabernets and Tempranillos are the flagships, but the under-celebrated Viognier and the rosés are equally compelling. Becker was instrumental in proving that Texas could produce age-worthy wines, and his earliest vintages from the 1990s are still drinking beautifully today.
What to Expect
The tasting room is the largest and most established in Texas Hill Country, a stone building set among lavender fields with a wraparound deck. The standard tasting walks through 6-8 wines. The premium reserve tasting includes older library wines and a cellar tour. The grounds are excellent for a longer visit and a picnic.

Visitor Tips
Reservations recommended on weekends. Late April through early June is lavender bloom season — the most photogenic time to visit. The reserve tasting is essential for understanding Texas's age-worthy potential. Buy the Iconoclast (Bordeaux blend) if it is available; it sells out fast.
